Arthur Fenner

[b 9 Nov. 1766 at Pawtucket, RI; d 27 Sept. 1837] Arthur was the illegitimate son of Gov. Arthur Fenner and Freelove Westcott (granddaughter of Freelove Fenner and Samuel Westcott, daughter of Thomas Westcott and Elizabeth Colwell). He m Lydia Sabin [b 1766 at Providence, RI; d ca. 1855 at Fairfield, NY], daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Sabin, on 8 Dec. 1787 at Pawtucket, RI. Arthur was a fifer in various companies during the Revolutionary War. They lived in Fairfield, NY in 1827.

  1. Elizabeth [b 1788-9 at Providence, RI; d after 1839].

  2. Zephaniah Brown [b ca. 1791 at Providence, RI; d 29 July 1822]; he died at sea near Havana, Cuba, on board the brig Ann. Registered for Seaman’s Protection on 14 Oct. 1807.

  3. Freelove (or Frances) [b 1792 at Providence, RI; d after 1859] m William B. Kingsbury [b ca. 1792 in MA] ca. 1830. They had Harriet [b 10 May 1832 in MA] and Aaron [b 18 Mar. 1834 in MA].

  4. Thomas Brown [b ca. 1797; d 30 July 1845] m Avis Eliza Hitchcock.

  5. Sarah A. [b 1798 at Providence, RI; d 1837 at Boston, MA] m 1st Timothy Converse Kendall [b 1797; d 1860] on 20 Apr. 1823 and had Esther Pierce [b 23 Apr. 1833 in Boston; d 16 Dec. 1915]; m 2nd Albert Knight on 5 May 1850 in E. Greenwich, RI.

  6. Cornelius George [b 1799; d after 1879] m Elizabeth M. Pierce.

  7. Arthur [b 1801 at Providence, RI; bur 10 Nov. 1814].

  8. Harriet Elizabeth [b 7 Feb. 1805; d 2 May 1829] m Seth Adams, Jr. [b 1800-03; d 16 Jan. 1866] on 26 Feb. 1823 at Providence, RI. They had Seth Adams [b ca. 1823].

Arthur Fenner’s brother-in-law, states that his son Arthur was an illegitimate child of Gov. Arthur and Freelove Westcott. C.A.C. 3rd.”
