Descendants of Captain Arthur Fenner
James L. Fenner & Sarah Remington
[b 1760 at Providence, RI; d 14 Jan. 1799 in his 40th yr.] James was buried on the Asahel Fenner farm. He and his brother, Joseph, received their grandfather’s homestead, including the Thomas Fenner House, in Cranston. In Sept. of 1780, the Cranston Town Council adjudged James non compos mentis and Richard Sarle was appointed his guardian for business affairs. Between 1787 and 1799, James lived at 1538 Plainfield Road, Cranston, RI. James married Sarah Remington [b ca. 1766 at Johnston, RI; d Apr. 1849, age 83] in 1790. In 1801, about two years after James died, Sarah was appointed guardian of James’ children. James is buried in the Pocasset Cemetery in Cranston. By 1820, Sarah had moved to 43 Stony Acre Drive in Cranston. She m 2nd Job Sheldon [b ca. 1778; d 19 Feb. 1825, age 47].
