George William Fenner

 

[b 20 July 1917 at Ashtabula, OH; d 10 Feb. 1975 at Erie, PA] George served in the South Pacific as a technician. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, the American Defense Service Metal, the American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Service medal with three bronze stars, even though he only served four years, from 16 Nov. 1941 to 6 Nov. 1945. After serving in the army, George worked between one full-time and three part-time jobs to support his family. He m Florence “Dolly” Cimorell [b 15 Feb. 1922] on 24 Nov. 1945, shortly after he returned from the Navy. Florence was the daughter of Michael Cimorell of Ashtabula, OH, and Frances Marianna Coppola of Mercogliano, Italy. She had one daughter, Frances, from a first marriage, last name unknown, who was adopted into the family by George.
